About Adam Lee Haselgren, JD `04
Adam Lee Haselgren (JD ’04) had a lifelong dream of becoming an attorney, and he achieved that goal at The University of Tulsa in 2004. This skilled attorney then made his career in indigent defense, spending 16 years as an Assistant Public Defender at the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office. While Adam could have practiced any type of law, he was adamant about providing public defense for clients who were in need. Adam had a personality that was larger than life, and his passion and heart for helping the less fortunate was on display every day among his clients and colleagues. While making such a difference in so many lives, Adam Haselgren passed away in 2024 at the age of 48, leaving behind many saddened family members, friends, colleagues and former clients.

Why give?
Amy L. Underwood (JD ’90) worked alongside Adam in the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office, and she feels he was one of the most talented attorneys to ever work in that office. While on the job, Adam’s quick wit and genuine kindness were always on display, and he became more than a colleague, but also a dear friend to all who worked with him. Amy and other former colleagues and friends of Adam, including Shena E. Burgess-McGuire (JD ’00), now wish to create a scholarship endowment fund in his honor at The University of Tulsa College of Law.
